Brussels,  11 January 2018 - Middle East Diplomatic (MED - The conference called “The Democratic Solution Vision for the Crisis in Iran and the Middle East” took place in the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels with the participation of Members of the European Parliament, academicians and human rights activists.

Martina Michels, Member of the Confederal Group of the European United Left - Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) opened the conference with a call for democratic Middle East and a solution to the Kurdish issue: “We want Kurds to secure their rights in Iran, Turkey, Syria and Iraq. The popular uprising in Iran and the objection to unemployment and poverty are important. All peoples including Kurds, women and all societal groups should have their rights. Iran should abandon these policies and become free and democratic.”

Kenneth R. Timmerman, Chairperson of the US-based Iran Democracy Association pointed out that: “For the first time, Persians and all peoples and groups have come together on one issue and are defending freedom and democracy against the regime. Kurds, Azeris, Balochs and everybody should have their rights, they should have education, their own culture and freedom. This is an inalienable right. And it must be implemented.”

Kenneth R. Timmerman also added that PJAK should be removed from the US terror list and supported as political movement.

The conference continued with presentations on history of humankind in the Middle East and Iran and on the Kurdish issue. Among the many Iranian speakers were, Persian, Kurdish, Azerian, Balauci, Arab and other representatives as well PJAK Co-President Siamend Muini, Mona Sielafi, Arab women activist, Kurdish Prof. Abbas Vali from Istanbul’s Bosphorus University, Farhad Basharat, Azeri political activist and many other politicians and human right defenders.
