US-West fears Iranian growing influence

Brussels,  28 November 2017 - Middle East Diplomatic (MED) - In a speech at the Wilson Center in Washington, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called on Europe, Arabic world and Turkey to unite their efforts against the growing hegemony attempts of Iran in the Middle East.

“We ask our European partners to join us in standing up to all of Iran’s malign behavior. The Iranian regime is anti-ethical to Western principles in its totalitarian suppression of individual, political, and religious freedom. Neither the United States nor Europe wants another type of North Korea nuclear threat on its hands, nor are any of our nations at ease with Iran’s attempts at hegemony in the Middle East through support for terrorist organizations, militias on the ground in Iraq and Syria, and an active ballistic missile development program”, said Tillerson.

Tillerson’s statement comes following the announcement of new American strategy on Iran last month when US accused Teheran in violating the spirit of the nuclear deal and imposed sanctions on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

Despite what the representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini is saying to the iranian mullahs, but US policy towards Iran and Iranian growing negative influence in the Middle East is shared by most of NATO-West allies.

Moreover, just recently last October, Iranian Shia Mullah regime and its terror organisations including Hashd al-Shaabi played major role in the occupation of some parts of Kurdistan region, including Kirkuk. In cooperation with the “Iraqi army” those Iranian backed terror organisations used US new modern weapons.

In his speech, the US senior official also asked Turkey, as a NATO ally, “to prioritize the common defence of its treaty allies. Iran cannot offer Turkish people the economic and political benefits that membership in the Western community of nations can provide”, added Tillerson.
